Subject: Best of Both Worlds Convention
Author: Colin Cunningham

I just
wanted to say to anyone who has ever heard of BOBW... ever wanted to go to
BOBW... never wanted to go BOBW, or has never even heard of BOBW.
THIS
CONVENTION ROCKS. What an absolute blast. For me, the trip of a lifetime.
Absolutely phenominal. I cannot say enough about how professional,
friendly, and gracious my hosts were. My hat is off to Brian and Adele and
to all of those who assisted in putting together probably one of the
classiest Cons I suspect I will ever have the privilege of going to.
I can only
hope and pray that everyone else had just a good a time as did myself,
Chris and Suanne.
Judge
himself told me before any of it started that there is not another con
like it. In terms of hospitality and intimacy alone, no other con comes
close. And not to slag any other conventions out there, I truly look
forward to them all. But one must give credit where credit is due, and
this convention was top notch.
That and
my hat comes off once again in acknowledging the Aussie Fans. You guys
were the best. We all felt so appreciated by you all without ever feeling
uncomfortable. The Aussie fans made us feel welcome, safe and refreshingly
human. Something that, (unfortunately) not all fans seem to realize. And
because of that, we all looked forward to getting back out there,
socializing, staying later and wanting to hang out with 'you' guys,
instead of the other way around.
All in
all. A joy. In fact, I figured why wait till I got home to write this...
and so, I'm actually writing this from an internet cafe on Bondi Beach.
Make no
mistake, BOBW is a smaller convention than what many of you may be used
to. But that is also one of its biggest strengths. It was basically like
hanging out in your favorite Uncles living room. Spending time with
friends and having a good laugh.
Thank you
Adele. Thank you Brian. And to the BOBW staff, assistants and Aussie fans
who attended the con, if you ever need a cup of sugar or a place to crash,
my couch is yours.
Sincerely,
Colin
Cunningham.
